A Swinging Showcase.
On Friday, May 7th, an
expectant audience of parents, friends and well wishers
gathered at Queen Charlotte Hall in Richmond for
performances by some of the many talented youngsters and
adults that had taken part in this year’s Performing Arts
Festival.
It was an
opportunity to hear Dominic Novak, Young Singer of the Year;
Bruno Ferrari, runner up for the title Young Pianist of the
Year; Joo Yeon Sir, Young Instrumentalist of the Year from
the Music sections.
Speech and Drama was
represented notably by Holly Squires, Young Performer of the
Year and Peter Watts, the runner-up. Katie Rogers, Young
Dancer of the Year gave a poised performance from the ballet
Sylvia and runner-up, Rosie Bretherton, a scary
interpretation of her character 'Gollum'
The evening really
took off with a performance of More than a feeling by
the St Paul’s Girls’ Close Harmony Group. This is the first
year that tap dance has featured strongly in the programme
and the Spotlight Dance School fielded two lively additions
to the evening’s entertainment. Congratulations to all the
performers that took part and made for such an enjoyable
evening. After a short interval the Mayor of Richmond upon
Thames, Councillor Celia Hodges presented everyone with
their well-earned trophies and prizes.
