Composition Workshop

Composers must be prepared to present a live performance or audio tape of their work at the Workshop which will be on March 13th. Each entry must be an original composition or arrangement for any combination of instruments (including electronic instruments) and/or voices. Composers must provide either a manuscript score OR a synopsis/commentary together with an audio tape of the finished piece Scores and synopses must be wholly the entrant's own work and should not exceed 10 minutes in length.
Composers may submit multiple entries – however please note that it may not be possible for all compositions to be worked on at the Festival. This will depend on the number of entries, however it is hoped that all participants will learn from the discussion of the pieces submitted.
The Workshop will be divided into two age groups - 13 & under and 14 & over. Entry fees for each composition are £3.50 (13 & under) and £5.00 (14 & over).

William Morris is a freelance composer, musical director, educator and performer. He has an MA in Composition for Film and Television with distinction and has recently been appointed Director of Music for the British Humanist Association, writing music for their ceremonies and special occasions.
He has received commissions across many varied media, including the award winning film Facing Mara (Native Voice Films), the BBC radio play The Glasshouse, and most recently the More4 documentary On That Day. William has also been involved in collaboration projects such as with artist Fran Barrault, composing and performing a series of piano music to her images, Bridges of Light.
William has a successful private teaching practice and he also teaches at the Royal Ballet School)
